WHY QUIT?

Clients have all sort of reasons why they want to quit smoking or vaping. Here are just a few:

Better breathing: Reduced coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Or as one put it after the first week: 'It's great not to be hoiking up half a lung in the morning.'

Improved health: Lower risk of heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, and other serious illnesses. Often people come because a friend or family member has died of lung cancer. While stopping smoking reduces rates of stroke and heart disease by half the connection is more obvious with lung cancer and, it seems, harder to ignore.

Enhanced sense of taste and smell: Enjoy food and drinks more fully. Nah, no one has ever chosen to stop and smell the roses.

Increased energy: Feel more alert and active. Again, not a main driver, but very true. There's more oxygen available and in the long term you sleep better because tobacco is a stimulant.

Financial savings: Save money on cigarettes and healthcare costs. Yes, well this certainly helps justify the expense of hypnotherapy, but in my experience it is not enough. It's a nice booster to motivation, but I always look for something else to get clients over the line.
